امیرحسین قلندری Ali Salehian, a senior researcher at the Sharif Governance Institute, said in an interview with Press TV about the activation of the trigger mechanism:
The ineffectiveness of the UN and Security Council mechanisms has become evident to everyone after the events of recent years in various instances, from Gaza to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
The JCPOA, with all its possible shortcomings, was a window of opportunity for diplomacy to resolve an issue that the West did not use.
Iran made every effort in good faith to resolve and alleviate the world’s concerns about its peaceful nuclear program, even until the final hours of last night. Of course, preparations for activating the trigger mechanism had been made in various Iranian institutions for days.
With this action, Europe once again showed that it does not have the ability to act independently of the US, so it distanced itself from the rest of the developments in Iran with this action.
